What are some things that you should look for in an attorney?
You want to find experience, you don't want to have an attorney where this is his first rodeo. He's never handled one of these cases before, he doesn't know what your case is worth. He doesn't know or she doesn't what some of the tactics are that they may encounter from the defense.
You want to have experience for sure; there's a lot of really good attorneys in this Valley, I mean, great trial lawyers and there's also some bad attorneys in this Valley as well. I think it's a good idea before you hire an attorney, I wouldn't necessarily go based on a TV commercial that you've seen.
There's actually some good attorneys that advertise on TV but there's some not very good attorneys that also advertise on TV and I would be reluctant to just pick somebody that you saw on TV.
Talk to people that you trust; if you have people in your life that you think are wise and good advisers for you, go and talk to those people. Sometimes they're church leaders, they can steer you in the right direction. Sometimes there's people at your work that you know have been involved in litigation, maybe the company you work for is involved in litigation from time-to-time.
Seek those people out and ask for their recommendation. One of the best resources is talking to attorneys. You may have a family law attorney who doesn't handle serious injury and wrongful death cases, but they're going to have a sense of who the good attorneys are out there and that's a good way to find your attorney.
